We're currently making the transition between summer and fall. And how do we do that seamlessly with our wardrobes? By remembering every element of our entire outfit. Shoes, check. Denim, check, Coats, scarves, sweaters, tops, check, check, check, check. So, what are we forgetting?
Believe it or not, people look at your fingernails just as much as they look at your face, especially if you're in close quarters with them. Think about all the interactions you use your hands for on a daily basis: handling money, eating food, typing, writing, shaking hands, pressing elevator buttons, the list goes on. My point is: your nails are not invisible.
And you should treat them just like any other part of your outfit, so dress them up! OPI is my favorite nail polish brand. The brush is the perfect width, and the polish itself is never clumpy or too thick. It goes on evenly and dries relatively quickly for such a high quality polish (about 30-45 minutes.) Bottles are going to range from $8 - $12 depending on where you purchase them, but they last for 2 to 3 years without going bad. You're definitely getting your money's worth with OPI.

So, what are some good transition polishes for the months of August, September, and October? Of course fall colors include brown and orange, but no one really wants to wear those colors on their nails. Here are some rules of thumb (ha, "thumb") for dressing up your nails for the upcoming season:
- Unless you're going with a classic saturated color (i.e. bright red, deep purple, etc.) keep colors muted. Almost as if a white, gray, or black is mixed in with the original color to make the color you see in the bottle. These muted shades have a soft appearance, complimenting autumn outfits of denim, suede, browns, greens, and neutral colors.
- If you want some sparkle, remember the word "shimmer," NOT "glitter." Shimmer polishes have a metallic finish and give off a hint of sparkle. Glitter polishes can be fun, but they're much more appropriate for summer. They can also read "junior high" if not applied appropriately and styled correctly.
- You can still personalize your nails and still follow guidelines. These colors are just some of my personal favorites. If you want to try a burnt orange or an olive green, go for it! Pick colors that you feel comfortable in and that go with your personality and wardrobe.
Check out the colors that I chose below, and which skin tones I paired them with. If you don't see your skin tone below, please contact me and I will happily add it ASAP!
Have fun shopping!
