Goth is chic now, thanks to the fall 2015 runway.
Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, and Saint Laurent were only a few of the designers who showcased the dark, moody looks on the FW 2015 runway.
The key to looking chic as opposed to scary when it comes to goth is editing your outfits. Many people hear goth and automatically think of black lipstick, long bangs in front of the face, chipped black nail polish, and combat boots. That is goth, circa 2002. Now it's 2015 and goth has taken on an entirely new persona. You can be goth and stylish at the same time, and it's easy!
When I say "editing your outfits," it's very similar to editing a paper. You write the whole darn thing (the black on black on black with the piercings and combat boots and ripped tights and dark makeup), then you edit down. You take out some wordy sentences (the scary eye makeup), fix run-ons (replace ripped rights with stylish stockings), tighten up your conclusion (change out some black for some navy, purple, emerald, etc), and tweak your title (ditch the combat boots for some trendy kicks).
Now, the suggestions above are merely that -- suggestions. You can do goth in your own way! You can go as goth as you want, or stay as far away from the trend as you please.
For those of you who are interested in the look, I put together some looks below. Are you preppy? Are you boho? Are you glamorous? There's some outfits for you. And if you want to see more goth looks from the runway, check it out here: style.com

marc jacobs does goth: preppy
Prep alert: Pair a plaid and a modified trench or pea coat with more traditional "goth" pieces, like tights and oxfords or combat boots. The trick to not looking scary? Ditch the black for a purple or navy.
giles does goth: boho
Alright flower children, this one's for you. The 70's vibe is totally trending this season, and the boho-inspired goth look channels that 70's thing also. Flow is key to looking easy-going and flowery. Think fringe, empire waists, and kimonos.
tom ford does goth: sexy
And this one's for the vixens at heart. Goth can be sexy, contrary to popular belief. An asymmetrical skirt and an over-the-knee boot are perfect for showing off just enough skin without being too revealing Don't be afraid to go all black with this look. Your dewy makeup and relaxed hair contrast the monochromatic outfit.
So, what do you think? Are you likely to try out the goth trend now that you've seen some wearable looks?
