Patterns are great. They give simple silhouettes an additional element of interest. They support an outfit in a way where extra jewelry, hair accessories, or layers aren't really needed. While prints are awesome, there's only so many floral dresses, striped sweaters and plaid flannels a girl can own. Lucky for us, color blocking is a huge trend right now and breaks up the monotony of the few classic prints we have in our closet.
The macro element of color blocking is a statement in itself. It's okay to accessorize, but don't overdo it. A statement necklace and a hat and a duster are going to end up taking away from the simplistic attention that color blocking creates all on its own.

So hopefully you found at least one piece that you can envision yourself rocking at a holiday party or Thanksgiving dinner. When spring rolls around, the same rules apply -- but you can bring in your favorite pastels and brights. If you want a more subtle piece with color blocking, pick out a color-blocked heel or statement necklace. Happy shopping!
